On behalf of the staff, students, parents and Board of Management of Clonea Power NS, I would like to extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to the Brunnock family on the untimely passing of Paul on the 2nd January, 2023.
Paul was principal of Clonea Power NS for over 20 years and many past pupils have spoken fondly about the great memories they have of Paul and also commented on the positive impact Paul had on their lives. He had a great love for the local Clonea/Rathgormack area. He actively promoted GAA in the school and I know that he spent a lot of time training and preparing school children for the school competitions. Paul was regarded as a kind and gentle soul by those who knew him and a man with a natural talent and love for music. I know he gave selflessly of his time and shared his gift of music, particularly in the preparation for the sacrament of confirmation. Paul was highly successful in the area of athletics, taking part in many marathons and long distance endurance races. I am sure his passion for music and athletics has in someway passed down to many of his pupils. While I didn’t know Paul well, on a personal or professional level, I received a very supportive message from him when I took over the principal post in Clonea Power NS and for which I was very grateful. Paul is predeceased by his loving mother Maura and sister Joanne. Our deepest sympathies to his beloved children Moylan, Megan, Rory, Daithí, their mother Anne Marie (Moylan), his father John, sister Elaine, brothers Johnny and Paddy, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Paul’s gentle soul rest in peace. Martin Whelan |
