2nd Class learned about woodlice today. They conducted an experiment to prove that woodlice prefer a dark habitat. They exhibited the experiment to 3rd and 4th class and completed a procedural writing piece based on their experiment. Well done!

Huge well done to Luke Gleeson in 6th Class and to the U15 Clonea hurling team who won the John West Shield at a Féile in Mallow over the weekend.
The children in Ms. O'Neill's room have been busy learning about Africa. They loved the story "Handa's Surprise" and tasted some of the fruits from the story. They used their senses to explore each fruit and created a pictogram afterwards in Maths.
The pupils and staff at Clonea-Power had a great week for Active Schools week! Have a look at the Active Flag - Active Schools Week 2022 tab on the website to have a look at pictures and videos from the week!
The Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland, and is part of the National Physical Activity Plan. The ASF initiative provides schools with a framework to guide, support and incentivise them to work towards achieving a physically educated and physically active school community. Big well done to our "Spirit of Clonea" and "Handwriter of the Month" award winners! 👏👏
Big thank you to Zeeko who provided an Internet Safety seminar to the children in 3rd to 6th class on Monday! The seminar was very beneficial and covered cyberbullying, inappropriate content, social media, digital stranger danger and data privacy.
The children in Ms. O'Neill's room loved learning about dinosaurs and fossils over the last few weeks. This theme was highly requested by the children! They learned the names of different dinosaurs, categorised dinosaurs into groups; herbivores and carnivores, hatched a dinosaur egg and learned about the Chicxulub crater in the Gulf of Mexico. We may have a few paleontologists on our hands in the future!! 1st Class wrote excellent reports about Dinosaurs! Thanks to Dara from Music Generations for teaching the children a Dinosaur song - they loved it!! The children in 2nd Class celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday 7th May 2022 in Clonea Church. It was a prayerful and joyous occasion. Congratulations to the children and their families.
Thank you to the children and to Mrs. O'Brien for their hardwork and dedication in preparation for the Sacrament. |
