Clonea Power NS is incredibly proud of these girls. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be our day yesterday in the final. The girls played their hearts out and were an absolute credit to the school, their parents and the whole school community. They enjoyed their well deserved McDonalds afterwards. Well Done Girls!

1st Class have been busy during Maths Week 2022 using their maths eyes. 1st class had to think of ways we use maths in our everyday lives. They came up with the idea of using the school jerseys to practice create a sum. They had great fun bringing maths to life!
5th and 6th class have been enjoying Maths Week 2022. Each day they complete their maths daily puzzles. For todays puzzle, the class had to use match sticks to try solve it. Great thinking outside the box boys and girls!
We used seed heads to print an Autumnal background. Then we gathered multicoloured leaves and made woodland creatures which we glued onto our printed sheets. We turned the seed heads and stalks into individual sculptures which we named.
We are very proud of our creativity. As part of Maths Week 2022, the children in Clonea N.S will try to solve the riddles on our riddle wall. All children who succeed will be in with a chance to win a prize at the end of the week. Best of luck boys and girls!
2nd, 3rd and 4th Class had great fun planting acorns this week. First we mixed the homemade compost and soil together. Then we dropped our acorns into water. If they floated, they were unsuitable for planting. If they sank, they were good to plant. Finally we planted the acorns horizontally in the pots and watered them. We planted 3 acorns in each pot as learned the root system in trees intertwine and trees enjoy being close together. Our acorns were gathered in Whitestown and are from an oak tree that has grown from a forest of ancient oak that was felled in the late 1930s. We are delighted to help this forest live on through our little acorns! Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st class enjoyed learning about their wellbeing during Mental Health Week 2022. We learned how important it is to be kind to others. We learned how important exercise and healthy food is for our bodies. We enjoyed stretching during our Yoga sessions. We also had daily buddy check-ins 'Walk and talk'. We chatted about how these things help us be happier boys and girls!!
Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class really enjoyed learning about Autumn. Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class were very active learning about Autumn. We painted Autumn trees and we made squirrels with crepe paper. We even moulded our own clay hedgehogs! Well done boys and girls.
Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class had great fun walking up Dempsey's Boreen. They worked together searching for Autumn things that were on their checklist. The class were very lucky as they saw lots of Autumn things including pine cones, acorns, conkers, horse chestnuts, blackberries, wild strawberries, fungi and Autumn leaves. We added them to our nature collection. It was a great day!!
2nd, 3rd and 4th class were very busy on Wellbeing Day at Clonea Power N.S. We created a board with beautiful portraits and wrote three things that we like about ourselves. We listened to a story called What To Do With A Problem. We learned that some problems can be seen as opportunities which help us to grow and change. Fantastic work boys and girls! Together we made our 'Class Motto for Wellbeing'.
