2nd, 3rd and 4th classs visited the church today. They each lit a candle for Christmas and then they improvised and performed a Nativity Play. It was a wonderful performance. The children then went on a walk to Flynn's well and learned some local history. The children in infants and 1st class have been busy learning all about An Post and the work of the postman! We did "Secret Santa" and each child made a card for someone else in the class. We walked to the postbox. Each child will receive their post on Monday! The children loved learning about An Post and all the work they do in our communities. Huge well done to 5th and 6th class for their brilliant performance of "Merry Christmas Everyone" at the end of our Christmas mass. Thank you to Daire from Music Generations for all of his hard work with our classes. The children in 2nd, 3rd and 4th class were very busy spreading Christmas spirit into our community today. They wrote Christmas cards to people who live in the area and walked to the postbox in Clonea, singing carols on their way. We wish one and all a Merry Christmas. Maith sibh a pháistí. Huge congratulations to the winner of the Christmas hamper, Conor Galvin in 2nd class. 🎁 Thank you to the pupils and parents for the continued support. It is greatly appreciated. The children and staff at Clonea-Power NS had a lovely day filled with festive fun. The children in infants started the day by making some food for Santa's reindeer. Next, the children decorated their very own gingerbread men. We then played some festive games like shoot the Grinch, pin Rudolph's nose and went on a carrot hunt. After break, we went on a "Santa Dash". Thank you to all parents and children for their sponsorship efforts. The children worked up a thirst and had some hot chocolate after their walk. We had a disco on the yard with some Christmas music and finished the day with Christmas films. Well done to the children for their excellent efforts during this term. They have adapted so well to the changes and have made us very proud. We hope you enjoyed Christmas Day in school!
2nd, 3rd and 4th classes were presented with a problem this week, Santa's sleigh was stuck in the North Pole.
They worked in pairs and discussed ways to move the sleigh. Next, they sketched their ideas and finally constructed a variety of objects to move the sleigh. They made pulleys, lifts, levers, catapults and also used husky, reindeer and air power to pull the sleigh out of the snow!! They had great fun and came up with some wonderful ideas. Maith sibh, a pháistí. The children loved learning how to felt and were excellent! Take a look at their finished pieces. Well done!
