The boys and girls in Clonea Power N.S had great fun at the school Toy Show this year. We chatted about each toy. We learned about the history of The Late Late Toy Show. The boys and girls also designed Christmas jumpers. The infant room in Clonea Power N.S. also got a very special visitor. Elsie the Elf arrived just in time for The Toy Show, she even brought some treats! We are excited to welcome Elsie the Elf into our class for some Christmas learning and fun!

Each week the children get an opportunity to write freely for 25 minutes. They are given 3 words to inspire them. Last week's words were mouse, ribbon and cheese. A 3rd class student decided to write a novel. Please read and stay tuned as it progresses over the next week or two. Well done Billy. Fantastic, creative work!
Junior Infants, Senior Infants & 1st Class acted as little scientists for Science Week. First, the children investigated Skittles. They added water to the skittles resulting in the food colouring to dissolve and diffuse through the water. For the second experiment, the children practiced blowing bubbles. Then, the children experimented with bubble solution. The children blew bubbles on the tables, they blew bubbles in their hands and they even blew bubbles inside of bubbles!! For the final experiment, the children investigated different materials. These materials included playdough, straws, spaghetti, marshmallows, cups and lollipop sticks. We discussed which materials would make the strongest tower. The children built towers out of the different materials. Well done boys and girls!
For Science Week, the children in 2nd, 3rd and 4th Class designed bridges. We looked at videos first and then designed our bridges. Finally, we tested our bridges for strenght and durability. Great fun was had by all. Well done boys and girls! Look at our fantastic bridges!
The pupils in 5th & 6th Class enjoyed Science Week. The boys and girls enjoyed designing and constructing catapults. The class also enjoyed experimenting with bubble solution. As part of the Science Week challenge the pupils had to blow bubbles on the table surface. It was lots of fun!
